God reveals His truth and not what men would like to hear.
Unbelief in Jesus is automatically part of Satan and the d**ned, no in between.
Acts 26: 14 And when we were all fallen down on the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew tongue: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the goad. 15 And I said: Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord answered: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. 16 But rise up and stand upon thy feet: for to this end have I appeared to thee, that I may make thee a minister and a witness of those things which thou hast seen and of those things wherein I will appear to thee, 17 Delivering thee from the people and from the nations unto which now I send thee: 18 To open their eyes, that they may be converted from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a lot among the saints, by the faith that is in me.
The term "perfidious Jews" - there was a reason for it, since the time of St. Ambrose and even before, the Church rightly condemned the Jews as a nation for the sin of perfidy. Perfidy is not ignorance of the Gospel. Perfidy is willful rejection of the Gospel. Perfidy is the willful rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and the only Messiah, the Christ. THE JEWS ARE GUILTY OF THIS. An individual Jew can repent and be converted and be saved. But he HAS to reject Judaism. St. Paul is the example of this. Gn:49:10: 10 The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent, and he shall be the expectation of nations. (DRV) This is a critical text and was quoted one way only by the Church Fathers. It means that the Kingship of the Messiah belongs to Jesus Christ only. "...the expectation of nations" is the Christ of God. Notice that it is nations - plural. In other words the Catholic faith given to men to be announced throughout the entire world to all nations. It was never given to only one nation or only one tribe, namely Israel and Juda. It is through Juda, but the sceptre of the Kingship and the promise of the Ruler when once they are fulfilled in Christ, as they were 2,000 years ago, will never be fufilled a second time. The eternal fufillment for all nations is in Jesus Christ and announced throughout the world by the Catholic faithful; faithful to God and His Christ and not some Antipope. Also, note that the sceptre and the expectation are not taken away TILL He come. He did - Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Nostrae Aetate complicit Noahide preaching of todays Jews as elder brothers in the faith is complete Apostasy from the faith and the taking of the mark of the beast and submission to the Antichrist. Jesus Christ d**ns that forever. He said: Mt:7:13: 13 Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat. (DRV) Our Lord and Saviour is the only way and the truth and the life. Jn:14:6: 6 Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. (DRV) It is not enough to know that, we have to declare it! Mt:10:32: 32 Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven. 33 But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven. (DRV)

Notice in the below that the law brings the curse that comes upon sin.
The Noahides don’t even follow the law but instead the Talmud. They blaspheme God and His law and His Son Jesus Christ Who is the only Saviour. The Noahides like Benediktos are followers of Antichrist. Therefore it is not surprising that they preach the Antigospel. Every curse that the law brings upon men for their sins has descended upon and will rest upon these blasphemers for eternity.
Rv:18: 1 ¶ And after these things, I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power: and the earth was enlightened with his glory. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen: and is become the habitation of devils and the hold of every unclean spirit and the hold of every unclean and hateful bird: 3 Because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication: and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her; And the merchants of the earth have been made rich by the power of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins and that you receive not of her plagues. (DRV)
But we who follow Christ in His commandments to separate from that which offends Him, as long as we continue, are redeemed, that is saved by Him.
Gal:3:13: 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (for it is written: Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree). (DRV)
A public death was offered by Christ for the reparation of the ignominy of sin and the Gospel of the remission of sin preached publicly throughout the world.
Mt:4:23: 23 ¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom: and healing all manner of sickness and every infirmity, among the people. (DRV)
Mt:10:7: 7 And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand. (DRV)
Lk:24:47: 47 And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (DRV)
Mk:6:12: 12 And going forth they preached men should do penance: (DRV)
Mk:13:10: 10 And unto all nations the gospel must first be preached. (DRV)
Salvation is by a public death of Christ on the cross for the one public body of Christ. Membership in that one public body of Christ is accomplished by confession of faith (and for Catholics, water baptism).
Mt:28: 18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. 19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. (DRV)
Lk:12:8: 8 And I say to you: Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God. (DRV)
Mt:26:28: 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins. (DRV)
Lk:1:77: 77 To give knowledge of salvation to his people, unto the remission of their sins. (DRV)
Lk:3:3: 3 And he came into all the country about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of penance for the remission of sins. (DRV)
Mt:3:6: 6 And were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. (DRV)
St. Augustine noted in regard to Catholics, that if one died between confessing Christ and before water baptism then the confession would be enough for salvation.

2Thes:2: 3 ¶ Let no man deceive you by any means: for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition 4 Who opposeth and is lifted up above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God. 5 Remember you not that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 11 (2:10) Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying: 12 (2-11) That all may be judged who have not believed the truth but have consented to iniquity. (DRV)
Speaking of idol worshippers, they were denounced by the prophets of the Old Testament and the Apostles and Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Some examples, all by the power of the Holy Spirit in those who said these things:
Saint Moses -
Ex:20: 1 ¶ And the Lord spoke all these words: 2 I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt not have strange gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me: 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands to them that love me, and keep my commandments. (DRV)
St. David –
Ps:96:5: 5 (95-5) For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens. (DRV)
Ps:106:37: 37 (105-37) And they sacrificed their sons, and their daughters to devils. (DRV)
St. Jeremiah –
Jer:10:11: 11 Thus then shall you say to them: The gods that have not made heaven and earth, let them perish from the earth, and from among those places that are under heaven. (DRV)
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ while on earth –
Mt:6:7: 7 And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard. (DRV)
Mt:12:28: 28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God come upon you. (DRV)
From above, Ps:96:5: 5 (95-5) For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens. (DRV)
Jn:1 1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God: and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made. 4 In him was life: and the life was the light of men. 5 ¶ And the light shineth in darkness: and the darkness did not comprehend it. (DRV)
Jn:3: 5 Jesus answered: Amen, amen, I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh: and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Wonder not that I said to thee: You must be born again. 8 The Spirit breatheth where he will and thou hearest his voice: but thou knowest not whence he cometh and whither he goeth. So is every one that is born of the Spirit. 13 And no man hath ascended into heaven, but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. 16 For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. 19 And this is the judgment: Because the light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil. 20 For every one that doth evil hateth the light and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved. 36 He that believeth in the Son hath life everlasting: but he that believeth not the Son shall not see life: but the wrath of God abideth on him. (DRV)
The Apostles at the council of Jerusalem –
Acts:15: 8 And God, who knoweth the hearts, gave testimony, giving unto them the Holy Ghost, as well as to us: 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore, why tempt you God to put a yoke upon the necks of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? 11 But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe to be saved, in like manner as they also. 17 That the residue of men may seek after the Lord, and all nations upon whom my name is invoked, saith the Lord, who doth these things. 18 To the Lord was his own work known from the beginning of the world. 19 For which cause, judge that they who from among the Gentiles are converted to God are not to be disquieted: 20 But that we write unto them, that they refrain themselves from the pollutions of idols and from fornication and from things strangled and from blood. (DRV)
St. Paul –
1Cor:10: 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, fly from the service of idols. 15 ¶ I speak as to wise men: judge ye yourselves what I say. 16 The chalice of benediction which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord? 17 For we, being many, are one bread, one body: all that partake of one bread. 18 Behold Israel according to the flesh. Are not they that eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What then? Do I say that what is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? Or that the idol is any thing? 20 But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils. 21 You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? (DRV)
2Cor:6: 1 ¶ And we helping do exhort you that you receive not the grace of God in vain. 14 Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God: as God saith: I will dwell in them and walk among them. And I will be their God: and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore: Go out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: 18 And I will receive you. And will be a Father to you: and you shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (DRV)
By the Appearance and the Holy Spirit of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ after His ascension in the flesh in which He arose, in the Book of the Revelation -
Rv:2:20: 20 But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication and to eat of things sacrificed to idols. (DRV)
Rv:9:20: 20 And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils and idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which neither can see nor hear nor walk: (DRV)
Rv:21:8: 8 But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and sleepermongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, they shall have their portion in the pool burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (DRV)
Rv:22:15: 15 Without are dogs and sorcerers and unchaste and murderers and servers of idols and every one that loveth and maketh a lie. (DRV)
Jesus Christ is the Lord of all and it was He who gave the law to Moses which proscribed idol worship and unbelief in God and the practices of the pagans (especially their religious practices) as d**nable. It is Jesus Christ Who spoke of d**nation in the New Testament of those who are not believers in Him.
Mt:10:28: 28 And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell. (DRV)
Mt:28:6: 6 He is not here. For he is risen, as he said. Come, and see the place where the Lord was laid. 18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. 19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. (DRV)
Mk:16: 15 And he said to them: Go ye into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall he condemned. (DRV)

Jesus to the Jews.
Jn:8:44&49 44 You are of your father the devil: and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning: and he stood not in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. 49 Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honour my Father. And you have dishonoured me. (DRV)
Mt:23:35: 35 That upon you may come all the just blood that hath been shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the just, even unto the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. (DRV)
The Jews and their hatred for Jesus Christ. That hatred = Antichrist {1Jn:4:3 And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus is not of God. And this is Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he cometh: and now is already in the world. (CCD - DRV)}. That spirit of hatred for Jesus Christ is the spirit of Antichrist and the Jews as a nation who reject Jesus Christ are the many antichrists (1Jn:2:18). The Rabbinic teachers, who are the successors to the Pharisees who had Jesus Christ crucified, are the many seducers (2Jn:1:7).
According to the Church Fathers the final Antichrist will arise from the Judaizing Gnostics and the successors to the Pharisees, the Rabbinic teachers.
Mk:15:13: 13 But they again cried out: Crucify him. (DRV)
Mk:15:14: 14 And Pilate saith to them: Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more: Crucify him. (DRV)
Mt:27:25: 25 And the whole people answering, said: His blood be upon us and upon our children. (DRV)
St. John the Apostle and Evangelist to the Christian Community warning them about the Jews that deny the Son of God Who is Jesus Christ.
1Jn:2 18 ¶ Little children, it is the last hour: and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us: but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us. 20 ¶ But you have the unction from the Holy One and know all things. 21 I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. (DRV)
St. John the Apostle and Evangelist warning about the Judaizing Gnostics and the Rabbinic Jews who systematically rejected and continue to reject Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the only True Messiah.
1Jn:4:3: 3 And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus is not of God. And this is Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he cometh: and now is already in the world. (CCD - DRV)
2Jn:1:7: 7 ¶ For many seducers are gone out into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a seducer and an antichrist. (DRV)

St. Athanasius Section 24 On the Incarnation of the Word. First and second sentences.
There are some other possible objections that must be answered. Some might urge that, even granting the necessity of a public death for subsequent belief in the resurrection, it would surely have been better for Him to have arranged an honorable death for Himself, and so to have avoided the ignominy of the cross
End quote.
Gal:3:13: 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (for it is written: Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree). (DRV)
A public ignominious death was offered by Christ for the reparation of ignominy of sin and the Gospel of the remission of sin preached publicly throughout the world.
(DRV)
And in regard to one body, it is a public death for the one public body of Christ.
(DRV)
Membership in that one public body of Christ is accomplished by confession of faith (and water baptism for Catholics).
Also, Muslims confess God by their profession of Him alone.

Catholic Bible CCD 1962
Romans first chapter:
I: DOCTRINAL THE GOSPEL: THE POWER OF GOD FOR THE SALVATION OF ALL WHO BELIEVE
16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth: to the Jew first and to the Greek. 17 For the justice of God is revealed therein, from faith unto faith, as it is written: The just man liveth by faith.
I. Humanity Without Christ The Pagans Adore Idols
18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those men who in wickedness hold back the truth of God, 19. seeing that what may be known about God is manifest to them. For God has manifested it to them. 20. For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes are clearly seen - his everlasting power also and divinity-being understood through the things that are made. And so they are without excuse, 21. seeing that, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless minds have been darkened. 22. For while professing to be wise, they have become fools, 23. and they have changed the glory of the incorruptible for an image made like to corruptible man and to birds and four footed beasts and creeping things.
Punishment of Idolaters
24. Therefore God has given them up in the lustful desires of their heart to uncleanness, so that they dishonor their own bodies among themselves- 25. they who exchange the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever, amen. 26. For this cause God has given them up to shameful lusts; for their women have exchanged the natural use for that which is against nature 27. and in like manner the men also having abandoned the natural use of the woman, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men doing shameless things and receiving in themselves the fitting recompense of their perversity. 28. And as they have resolved against possessing the knowledge of God, God has given them up to a reprobate sense, so that they do what is not fitting, 29. being filled with all iniquity, malice, immorality, avarice, wickedness; being full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity being whisperers, 30. detractors, hateful to God, irreverent, proud, haughty, plotters of evil disobedient to parents, 31. foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. 32. Although they have known the ordinance of God, they have not understood that those who practise such things are deserving of death. And not only do they do these things, but they applaud others doing them.
2Thes:1: 6. Indeed it is just on the part of God to repay with affliction, those who afflict you, 7. and to give you who are afflicted rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus who will come from heaven with the angels of his power, 8. in flaming fire to inflict punishment on those who do not know God, and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. These will be punished with eternal ruin, away from the face of the Lord and the glory of his power,

From below:
“…the main criterion for the ecumenists is neither the spirit nor truth…”
Ecumenism is the movement to weld all religions together as one and pave the way for the Antichrist
See these sites and pictures and the excerpts below and read the whole articles to see what ecumenism is. It is apostasy from Christ and the embracing of paganism.

[excerpt] The tragic denial of the uniqueness of the Revelation of the Saviour Jesus Christ by the Patriarch and Pope has its roots in the disintegration of the organic unity of worship, ethos and dogma. Dogma and ethos are understood only within the framework of worship and the canon of worship is organically linked to the canon of faith. The consideration of worship independent of dogma and ethos, as seen, for instance, in the Patriarch's statement above ("God is a God of peace. . ."), has already predominated in the West for centuries. Such a type of dualism has been preached by Protestantism from the time of its appearance and before that by scholastic theology. In the East it is seen most clearly in the "anti-Kollyvades" party. At the base of their disagreement with the Kollyvades Fathers, the basic criterion for them was not the truth of faith, which is expressed in the tradition of the Church, but a thoughtless correlation with the spirit of the world and its demands. So too today, in countless examples, such as happened in Assisi, of incomprehensible compromises and outright denials of the unity of prayer and faith, the main criterion for the ecumenists is neither the spirit nor truth of the Orthodox Faith, but temporal gains (often illusive in themselves), political needs and diplomatic demands. From all that has been said above, therefore, we can conclude that both the peace which was spoken of and sought, but also the prayer which was offered up to "God" in Assisi, was neither that internal, otherworldly peace announced at Christ's birth, nor that "worship of the Father in spirit and in truth" which was spoken of by Christ to the Samaritan woman. For both the "peace of God" and prayer in "spirit and in truth" are fruits of an organic relationship between dogma, ethos and worship and are divine energies given to those who hold to the manner of Orthodox belief in the Holy Trinity. That ten local Orthodox Churches sent representatives to such a gathering can only be seen as a most ominous sign of the present ecclesiastical schizophrenia, where the truth, meaning and essence is missing, and the attachment to external appearances degenerates into sterile ceremonialism and ritualism, which not only does not save, but even obstructs on the path to salvation, and, finally, leads to such incomprehensible compromises and betrayals as was witnessed in Assisi.

[excerpt] On January 24th [2002], Buddhist chants and Christian hymns resounded inside a huge plastic tent decorated with an olive tree. Representatives of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Jianism, Confucianism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, and followers of Tenrikyo and African tribal religions including (Voodoo) joined their prayers so that, with one voice, they could ask their respective deities to grant peace to the world. Crosses and other religious objects were removed by Vatican officials so that non-Christian religious leaders would be free to pray in the manner in which they are accustomed. One by one, religious leaders holding small, glass oil lamps lined up at the podium and read each of the 10 points of a communal commitment. Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople was the first of 11 religious leaders to speak. Chief Amadou Gasseto, who described himself as the high priest of followers of Avelekete Vodoo in Benin, echoed the patriarch's point about personal behavior and its decisive role in creating peace or conflict. After sharing their "testimonies for peace," Pope John Paul and Patriarch Bartholomew led the Christians from 17 Orthodox churches and 14 Anglican and Protestant communities into the lower basilica for an ecumenical prayer service. There were 3 Orthodox Patriarchs taking part. Not to be outdone by Constantinople, the Russian Patriarch Alexy led a delegation from Russia. It is noteworthy that the largest delegation to respond to the Pope's invitation was made up of Orthodox clergy, who apparently no longer believe that our Saviour is the only hope for the "peace of the world." This two-day meeting was consistent with the voices we hear coming from many directions that tell us to "discern and celebrate God's Spirit, not only in the people of the churches, but also in people of other faiths and ideologies." A few years ago this belief would have shocked those who considered themselves "Orthodox Christians...." The gathering at Assisi was a triumphant exhibition of the predominance of "Re-Imaging" theology. The Re-Imaging movement proclaims that "Christianity" has to acknowledge that our Saviour is not the only road to God. Its pantheistic beliefs have led them it to believe that it is an error to believe that only our Lord can lead us to God.

From St. Irenaeus:
St. Irenaeus shows that Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to worship only the True God and that the Antichrist will have the many idols of the pagans (which are a device of the devil which already d**ns men who worship them) used as the way to ensnare men to d**nation by worshipping the Antichrist himself.
IRENAEUS AGAINST HERESIES -- BOOK IV (Chap. I to Chap. XX)
CHAP. I.--THE LORD ACKNOWLEDGED BUT ONE GOD AND FATHER.
1. Since, therefore, this is sure and stedfast, that no other God or Lord was announced by the Spirit, except Him who, as God, rules over all, together with His Word, and those who receive the Spirit of adoption,(2) that is, those who believe in the one and true God, and in Jesus Christ the Son of God; and likewise that the apostles did Of themselves term no one else as God, or name [no other] as Lord; and, what is much more important, [since it is true] that our Lord [acted likewise], who did also command us to confess no one as Father, except Him who is in the heavens, who is the one God and the one Father;--those things are clearly shown to be false which these deceivers and most perverse sophists advance, maintaining that the being whom they have themselves invented is by nature both God and Father; but that the I Demiurge is naturally neither God nor Father, but is so termed merely by courtesy (verbo tenus), because of his ruling the creation, these perverse mythologists state, setting their thoughts against God; and, putting aside the doctrine of Christ, and of themselves divining falsehoods, they dispute against the entire dispensation of God. For they maintain that their Aeons, and gods, and fathers, and lords, are also still further termed heavens, together with their Mother, whom they do also call "the Earth," and "Jerusalem," while they also style her many other names. 2. Now to whom is it not clear, that if the Lord had known many fathers and gods, He would not have taught His disciples to know [only] one God,(3) and to call Him alone Father? But He did the rather distinguish those who by word merely (verbo tenus) are termed gods, from Him who is truly God, that they should not err as to His doctrine, nor understand one [in mistake] for another. And if He did indeed teach us to call one Being Father and God, while He does from time to time Himself confess other fathers and gods in the same sense, then He will appear to enjoin a different course upon His disciples from what He follows Himself. Such conduct, however, does not bespeak the good teacher, but a misleading and invidious one. The apostles, too, according to these men's showing, are proved to be transgressors of the commandment, since they confess the Creator as God, and Lord, and Father, as I have shown--if He is not alone God and Father. Jesus, therefore, will be to them the author and teacher of such transgression, inasmuch as He commanded that one Being should be called Father,(4) thus imposing upon them the necessity of confessing the Creator as their Father, as has been pointed out.
CHAP.II.--PROOFS FROM THE PLAIN TESTIMONY OF MOSES, AND OF THE OTHER PROPHETS, WHOSE WORDS ARE THE WORDS OF CHRIST, THAT THERE IS BUT ONE GOD, THE FOUNDER OF THE WORLD, WHOM OUR LORD PREACHED, AND WHOM HE CALLED HIS FATHER.
1. Moses, therefore, making a recapitulation of the whole law, which he had received from the Creator (Demiurge), thus speaks in Deuteronomy: "Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth."(5) Again, David saying that his help came from the Lord, asserts: "My help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth."(6) And Esaias confesses that words were uttered by God, who made heaven and earth, and governs them. He says: "Hear, O heavens; and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken."(7) And again: "Thus saith the LORD God, who made the heaven, and stretched it out; who established the earth, and the things in it; and who giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them who walk therein."(8) 2. Again, our Lord Jesus Christ confesses this same Being as His Father, where He says: "I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth."(1) What Father will those men have us to understand [by these words], those who are most perverse sophists of Pandora? Whether shall it be Bythus, whom they have fabled of themselves; or their Mother; or the Only-begotten? Or shall it be he whom the Marcionites or the others have invented as god (whom I indeed have amply demonstrated to be no god at all); or shall it be (what is really the case) the Maker of heaven and earth, whom also the prophets proclaimed,--whom Christ, too, confesses as His Father,--whom also the law announces, saying: "Hear, O Israel; The Lord thy God is one God?"(2) 3. But since the writings (litera) of Moses are the words of Christ, He does Himself declare to the Jews, as John has recorded in the Gospel: "If ye had believed Moses, ye would have believed Me: for he wrote of Me. But if ye believe not his writings, neither will ye believe My words."(3) He thus indicates in the clearest manner that the writings of Moses are His words. If, then, [this be the case with regard] to Moses, so also, beyond a doubt, the words of the other prophets are His [words], as I have pointed out. And again, the Lord Himself exhibits Abraham as having said to the rich man, with reference to all those who were still alive: "If they do not obey Moses and the prophets, neither, if any one were to rise from the dead and go to them, will they believe him."(4) 4. Now, He has not merely related to us a story respecting a poor man and a rich one; but He has taught us, in the first place, that no one should lead a luxurious life, nor, living in worldly pleasures and perpetual feastings, should be the slave of his lusts, and forget God. "For there was," He says, "a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and delighted himself with splendid feasts."(5) Of such persons, too, the Spirit has spoken by Esaias: "They drink wine with [the accompaniment of] harps, and tablets, and psalteries, and flutes; but they regard not the works of God, neither do they consider the work of His hands."(6) Lest, therefore, we should incur the same punishment as these men, the Lord reveals [to us] their end; showing at the same time, that if they obeyed Moses and the prophets, they would believe in Him whom these had preached, the Son of God, who rose from the dead, and bestows life upon us; and He shows that all are from one essence, that is, Abraham, and Moses, and the prophets, and also the Lord Himself, who rose from the dead, in whom many believe who are of the circumcision, who do also hear Moses and the prophets announcing the coming of the Son of God. But those who scoff [at the truth] assert that these men were from another essence, and they do not know the first-begotten from the dead; understanding Christ as a distinct being, who continued as if He were impassible, and Jesus, who suffered, as being altogether separate [from Him]. 5. For they do not receive from the Father the knowledge of the Son; neither do they learn who the Father is from the Son, who teaches clearly and without parables Him who truly is God. He says: "Swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; neither by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King."(7) For these words are evidently spoken with reference to the Creator, as also Esaias says: "Heaven is my throne, the earth is my footstool."(8) And besides this Being there is no other God; otherwise He would not be termed by the Lord either" God" or" the great King;" for a Being who can be so described admits neither of any other being compared with nor set above Him. For he who has any superior over him, and is under the power of another, this being never can be called either "God" or "the great King." 6. But neither will these men be able to maintain that such words were uttered in an ironical manner, since it is proved to them by the words themselves that they were in earnest. For He who uttered them was Truth, and did truly vindicate His own house, by driving out of it the changers of money, who were buying and selling, saying unto them: "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."(9) And what reason had He for thus doing and saying, and vindicating His house, if He did preach another God? But [He did so], that He might point out the transgressors of His Father's law; for neither did He bring any accusation against the house, nor did He blame the law, which He had come to fulfil; but He reproved those who were putting His house to an improper use, and those who were transgressing the law. And therefore the scribes and Pharisees, too, who from the times of the law had begun to despise God, did not receive His Word, that is, they did not believe on Christ. Of these Esaias says: "Thy princes are rebellious, companions of thieves, loving gifts, following after rewards, not judging the fatherless, and negligent of the cause of the widows."(10) And Jeremiah, in like manner: "They," he says, "who rule my people did not know me; they are senseless and imprudent children; they are wise to do evil, but to do well they have no knowledge."(1) 7. But as many as feared God, and were anxious about His law, these ran to Christ, and were all saved. For He said to His disciples: "Go ye to the sheep of the house of Israel,(2) which have perished." And many more Samaritans, it is said, when the Lord had tarried among. them, two days, "believed because of His words, and said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying, for we ourselves have heard [Him], and know that this man is truly the Saviour of the world."(3) And Paul likewise declares, "And so all Israel shall be saved;"(4) but he has also said, that the law was our pedagogue [to bring us] to Christ Jesus.(5) Let them not therefore ascribe to the law the unbelief of certain [among them]. For the law never hindered them from believing in the Son of God; nay, but it even exhorted them(6) so to do, saying(7) that men can be saved in no other way from the old wound of the serpent than by believing in Him who, in the likeness of sinful flesh, is lifted up from the earth upon the tree of martyrdom, and draws all things to Himself,(8) and vivifies the dead.
IRENAEUS AGAINST HERESIES -- BOOK V (Chap. XIX to Chap. XXXVI)
CHAP. XXV.--THE FRAUD, PRIDE, AND TYRANNICAL KINGDOM OF ANTICHRIST, AS DESCRIBED BY DANIEL AND PAUL.
1. And not only by the particulars already mentioned, but also by means of the events which shall occur in the time of Antichrist is it shown that he, being an apostate and a robber, is anxious to be adored as God; and that, although a mere slave, he wishes himself to be proclaimed as a king. For he (Antichrist) being endued with all the power of the devil, shall come, not as a righteous king, nor as a legitimate king, [i.e., one] in subjection to God, but an impious, unjust, and lawless one; as an apostate, iniquitous and murderous; as a robber, concentrating in himself [all] satanic apostasy, and setting aside idols to persuade [men] that he himself is God, raising up himself as the only idol, having in himself the multifarious errors of the other idols. This he does, in order that they who do [now] worship the devil by means of many abominations, may serve himself by this one idol, of whom the apostle thus speaks in the second Epistle to the Thessalonians: "Unless there shall come a failing away first, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself as if he were God." The apostle therefore clearly points out his apostasy, and that he is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped--that is, above every idol--for these are indeed so called by men, but are not [really] gods; and that he will endeavour in a tyrannical manner to set himself forth as God. 2. Moreover, he (the apostle) has also pointed out this which I have shown in many ways, that the temple in Jerusalem was made by the direction of the true God. For the apostle himself, speaking in his own person, distinctly called it the temple of God. Now I have shown in the third book, that no one is termed God by the apostles when speaking for themselves, except Him who truly is God, the Father of our Lord, by whose directions the temple which is at Jerusalem was constructed for those purposes which I have already mentioned; in which [temple] the enemy shall sit, endeavouring to show himself as Christ, as the Lord also declares: "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, which has been spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand), then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains; and he who is upon the house-top, let him not come down to take anything out of his house: for there shall then be great hardship, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall be."(3) 3. Daniel too, looking forward to the end of the last kingdom, i.e., the ten last kings, amongst whom the kingdom of those men shall be partitioned, and upon whom the son of perdition shall come, declares that ten horns shall spring from the beast, and that another little horn shall arise in the midst of them, and that three of the former shall be rooted up before his face. He says: "And, behold, eyes were in this horn as the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things, and his look was more stout than his fellows. I was looking, and this horn made war against the saints, and prevailed against them, until the Ancient of days came and gave judgment to the saints of the most high God, and the time came, and the saints obtained the kingdom."(4) Then, further on, in the interpretation of the vision, there was said to him: "The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall excel all other kingdoms, and devour the whole earth, and tread it down, and cut it in pieces. And its ten horns are ten kings which shall arise; and after them shall arise another, who shall surpass in evil deeds all that were before him, and shall overthrow three kings; and he shall speak words against the most high God, and wear out the saints of the most high God, and shall purpose to change times and laws; and [everything] shall be given into his hand until a time of times and a half time,"(1) that is, for three years and six months, during which time, when he comes, he shall reign over the earth. Of whom also the Apostle Paul again, speaking in the second [Epistle] to the Thessalonians, and at the same time proclaiming the cause of his advent, thus says: "And then shall the wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the spirit of His mouth, and destroy by the presence of His coming; whose coming [i.e., the wicked one's] is after the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and portents of lies, and with all deceivableness of wickedness for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And therefore God will send them the working of error, that they may believe a lie; that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but gave consent to iniquity,"(2) 4. The Lord also spoke as follows to those who did not believe in Him: "I have come in my Father's name, and ye have not received Me: when another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive,"(3) calling Antichrist "the other," because he is alienated from the Lord. This is also the unjust judge, whom the Lord mentioned as one "who feared not God, neither regarded man,"(4) to whom the widow fled in her forgetfulness of God,--that is, the earthly Jerusalem,--to be avenged of her adversary. Which also he shall do in the time of his kingdom: he shall remove his kingdom into that [city], and shall sit in the temple of God, leading astray those who worship him, as if he were Christ. To this purpose Daniel says again: "And he shall desolate the holy place; and sin has been given for a sacrifice,(5) and righteousness been cast away in the earth, and he has been active (fecit), and gone on prosperously."(6) And the angel Gabriel, when explaining his vision, states with regard to this person: "And towards the end of their kingdom a king of a most fierce countenance shall arise, one understanding [dark] questions, and exceedingly powerful, full of wonders; and he shall corrupt, direct, influence (faciet), and put strong men down, the holy people likewise; and his yoke shall be directed as a wreath [round their neck]; deceit shall be in his hand, and he shall be lifted up in his heart: he shall also ruin many by deceit, and lead many to perdition, bruising them in his hand like eggs."(7) And then he points out the time that his tyranny shall last, during which the saints shall be put to flight, they who offer a pure sacrifice unto God: "And in the midst of the week," he says, "the sacrifice and the libation shall be taken away, and the abomination of desolation [shall be brought] into the temple: even unto the consummation of the time shall the desolation be complete."(8) Now three years and six months constitute the half-week. 5. From all these passages are revealed to us, not merely the particulars of the apostasy, and [the doings] of him who concentrates in himself every satanic error, but also, that there is one and the same God the Father, who was declared by the prophets, but made manifest by Christ. For if what Daniel prophesied concerning the end has been confirmed by the Lord, when He said, "When ye shall see the abomination of desolation, which has been spoken of by Daniel the prophet"(9) (and the angel Gabriel gave the interpretation of the visions to Daniel, and he is the archangel of the Creator (Demiurgi), who also proclaimed to Mary the visible coining and the incarnation of Christ), then one and the same God is most manifestly pointed out, who sent the prophets, and made promise(10) of the Son, and called us into His knowledge.
CHAP. XXVI.--JOHN AND DANIEL HAVE PREDICTED THE DISSOLUTION AND DESOLATION OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE, WHICH SHALL PRECEDE THE END OF THE WORLD AND THE ETERNAL KINGDOM OF CHRIST. THE GNOSTICS ARE REFUTED, THOSE TOOLS OF SATAN, WHO INVENT ANOTHER FATHER DIFFERENT FROM THE CREATOR.
1. In a still clearer light has John, in the Apocalypse, indicated to the Lord's disciples what shall happen in the last times, and concerning the ten kings who shall then arise, among whom the empire which now rules [the earth] shall be partitioned. He teaches us what the ten horns shall be which were seen by Daniel, telling us that thus it had been said to him: "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet, but shall receive power as if kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and give their strength and power to the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, because He is the Lord of lords and the King of kings."(11) It is manifest, therefore, that of these [potentates], he who is to come shall slay three, and subject the remainder to his power, and that he shall be himself the eighth among them. And they shall lay Babylon waste, and burn her with fire, and shall give their kingdom to the beast, and put the Church to flight. After that they shall be destroyed by the coming of our Lord. For that the kingdom must be divided, and thus come to ruin, the Lord [declares when He] says: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."(1) It must be, therefore, that the kingdom, the city, and the house be divided into ten; and for this reason He has already foreshadowed the partition and division [which shall take place]. Daniel also says particularly, that the end of the fourth kingdom consists in the toes of the image seen by Nebuchadnezzar, upon which came the stone cut out without hands; and as he does himself say: "The feet were indeed the one part iron, the other part clay, until the stone was cut out without hands, and struck the image upon the iron and clay feet, and dashed them into pieces, even to the end."(2) Then afterwards, when interpreting this, he says: "And as thou sawest the feet and the toes, partly indeed of clay, and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided, and there shall be in it a root of iron, as thou sawest iron mixed with baked clay. And the toes were indeed the one part iron, but the other part clay."(3) The ten toes, therefore, are these ten kings, among whom the kingdom shall be partitioned, of whom some indeed shall be strong and active, or energetic; others, again, shall be sluggish and useless, and shall not agree; as also Daniel says: "Some part of the kingdom shall be strong, and part shall be broken from it. As thou sawest the iron mixed with the baked clay, there shall be minglings among the human race, but no cohesion one with the other, just as iron cannot be welded on to pottery ware."(4) And since an end shall take place, he says: "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven raise up a kingdom which shall never decay, and His kingdom shall not be left to another people. It shall break in pieces and shatter all kingdoms, and shall itself be exalted for ever. As thou sawest that the stone was cut without hands from the mountain, and brake in pieces the baked clay, the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold, God has pointed out to the king what shall come to pass after these things; and the dream is true, and the interpretation trustworthy."(5) 2. If therefore the great God showed future things by Daniel, and confirmed them by His Son; and if Christ is the stone which is cut out without hands, who shall destroy temporal kingdoms, and introduce an eternal one, which is the resurrection of the just; as he declares, "The God of heaven shall raise up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed,"--let those thus confuted come to their senses, who reject the Creator (Demiurgum), and do not agree that the prophets were sent beforehand from the same Father from whom also the Lord came, but who assert that prophecies originated from diverse powers. For those things which have been predicted by the Creator alike through all the prophets has Christ fulfilled in the end, ministering to His Father's will, and completing His dispensations with regard to the human race. Let those persons, therefore, who blaspheme the Creator, either by openly expressed words, such as the disciples of Marcion, or by a perversion of the sense [of Scripture], as those of Valentinus and all the Gnostics falsely so called, be recognised as agents of Satan by all those who worship God; through whose agency Satan now, and not before, has been seen to speak against God, even Him who has prepared eternal fire for every kind of apostasy. For he did not venture to blaspheme his Lord openly of himself; as also in the beginning he led man astray through the instrumentality of the serpent, concealing himself as it were from God. Truly has Justin remarked:(6) That before the Lord's appearance Satan never dared to blaspheme God, inasmuch as he did not yet know his own sentence, because it was contained in parables and allegories; but that after the Lord's appearance, when he had clearly ascertained from the words of Christ and His apostles that eternal fire has been prepared for him as he apostatized from God of his own free-will, and likewise for all who unrepentant continue in the apostasy, he now blasphemes, by means of such men, the Lord who brings judgment [upon him] as being already condemned, and imputes the guilt of his apostasy to his Maker, not to his own voluntary disposition. Just as it is with those who break the laws, when punishment overtakes them: they throw the blame upon those who frame the laws, but not upon themselves. In like manner do those men, filled with a satanic spirit, bring innumerable accusations against our Creator, who has both given to us the spirit of life, and established a law adapted for all; and they will not admit that the judgment of God is just. Wherefore also they set about imagining some other Father who neither cares about nor exercises a providence over our affairs, nay, one who even approves of all sins.
CHAP. XXVII.--THE FUTURE JUDGMENT BY CHRIST. COMMUNION WITH AND SEPARATION FROM THE DIVINE BEING. THE ETERNAL PUNISHMENT OF UNBELIEVERS.
1. If the Father, then, does not exercise judgment, [it follows] that judgment does not belong to Him, or that He consents to all those actions which take place; and if He does not judge, all persons will be equal, and accounted in the same condition. The advent of Christ will therefore be without an object, yea, absurd, inasmuch as [in that case] He exercises no judicial power. For "He came to divide a man against his father, and the daughter against the mother, and the daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law;"(1) and when two are in one bed, to take the one, and to leave the other; and of two women grinding at the mill, to take one and leave the other:(2) [also] at the time of the end, to order the reapers to collect first the tares together, and bind them in bundles, and burn them with unquenchable fire, but to gather up the wheat into the barn;(3) and to call the lambs into the kingdom prepared for them, but to send the goats into everlasting fire, which has been prepared by His Father for the devil and his angels.(4) And why is this? Has the Word come for the ruin and for the resurrection of many? For the ruin, certainly, of those who do not believe Him, to whom also He has threatened a greater d**nation in the judgment-day than that of Sodom and Gomorrah;(5) but for the resurrection of believers, and those who do the will of His Father in heaven. If then the advent of the Son comes indeed alike to all, but is for the purpose of judging, and separating the believing from the unbelieving, since, as those who believe do His will agreeably to their own choice, and as, [also] agreeably to their own choice, the disobedient do not consent to His doctrine; it is manifest that His Father has made all in a like condition, each person having a choice of his own, and a free understanding; and that He has regard to all things, and exercises a providence over all, "making His sun to rise upon the evil and on the good, and sending rain upon the just and unjust."(6) 2. And to as many as continue in their love towards God, does He grant communion with Him. But communion with God is life and light, and the enjoyment of all the benefits which He has in store. But on as many as, according to their own choice, depart from God. He inflicts that separation from Himself which they have chosen of their own accord. But separation from God is death, and separation from light is darkness; and separation from God consists in the loss of all the benefits which He has in store. Those, therefore, who cast away by apostasy these forementioned things, being in fact destitute of all good, do experience every kind of punishment. God, however, does not punish them immediately of Himself, but that punishment falls upon them because they are destitute of all that is good. Now, good things are eternal and without end with God, and therefore the loss of these is also eternal and never-ending. It is in this matter just as occurs in the case of a flood of light: those who have blinded themselves, or have been blinded by others, are for ever deprived of the enjoyment of light. It is not, [however], that the light has inflicted upon them the penalty of blindness, but it is that the blindness itself has brought calamity upon them: and therefore the Lord declared, "He that believeth in Me is not condemned,"(7) that is, is not separated from God, for he is united to God through faith. On the other hand, He says, "He that believeth not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God;" that is, he separated himself from God of his own accord. "For this is the condemnation, that light is come into this world, and men have loved darkness rather than light. For every one who doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that he has wrought them in God."
CHAP. XXVIII.--THE DISTINCTION TO BE MADE BETWEEN THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED. THE FUTURE APOSTASY IN THE TIME OF ANTI-CHRIST, AND THE END OF THE WORLD.
1. Inasmuch, then, as in this world (<greek>aiwni</greek>) some persons betake themselves to the light, and by faith unite themselves with God, but others shun the light, and separate themselves from God, the Word of God comes preparing a fit habitation for both. For those indeed who are in the light, that they may derive enjoyment from it, and from the good things contained in it; but for those in darkness, that they may partake in its calamities. And on this account He says, that those upon the right hand are called into the kingdom of heaven, but that those on the left He will send into eternal fire for they have deprived themselves of all good. 2. And for this reason the apostle says: "Because they received not the love of God, that they might be saved, therefore God shall also send them the operation of error, that they may believe a lie, that they all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but consented to unrighteousness."(1) For when he (Antichrist) is come, and of his own accord concentrates in his own person the apostasy, and accomplishes whatever he shall do according to his own will and choice, sitting also in the temple of God, so that his dupes may adore him as the Christ; wherefore also shall he deservedly "be cast into the lake of fire:"(2) [this will happen according to divine appointment], God by His prescience foreseeing all this, and at the proper time sending such a man, "that they may believe a lie, that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but consented to unrighteousness;" whose coming John has thus described in the Apocalypse: "And the beast which I had seen was like unto a leopard, and his feet as of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion; and the dragon conferred his own power upon him, and his throne, and great might. And one of his heads was as it were slain unto death; and his deadly wound was healed, and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon because he gave power to the beast; and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto this beast, and who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things, and blasphemy and power was given to him during forty and two months. And he opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. And power was given him over every tribe, and people, and tongue, and nation. And all who dwell upon the earth worshipped him, [every one] whose name was not written in the book of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any one have ears, let him hear. If any one shall lead into captivity, he shall go into captivity. If any shall slay with the sword, he must be slain with the sword. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints."(3) After this he likewise describes his armour-bearer, whom he also terms a false prophet: "He spake as a dragon, and exercised all the power of the first beast in his sight, and caused the earth, and those that dwell therein, to adore the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he shall perform great wonders, so that he can even cause fire to descend from heaven upon the earth in the sight of men, and he shall lead the inhabitants of the earth astray."(4) Let no one imagine that he performs these wonders by divine power, but by the working of magic. And we must not be surprised if, since the demons and apostate spirits are at his service, he through their means performs wonders, by which he leads the inhabitants of the earth astray. John says further: "And he shall order an image of the beast to be made, and he shall give breath to the image, so that the image shall speak; and he shall cause those to be slain who will not adore it." He says also: "And he will cause a mark [to be put] in the forehead and in the fight hand, that no one may be able to buy or sell, unless he who has the mark of the name of the beast or the number of his name; and the number is six hundred and sixty-six,"(5) that is, six times a hundred, six times ten, and six units. [He gives this] as a summing up of the whole of that apostasy which has taken place during six thousand years. 3. For in as many days as this world was made, in so many thousand years shall it be concluded. And for this reason the Scripture says: "Thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their adornment. And God brought to a conclusion upon the sixth day the works that He had made; and God rested upon the seventh day from all His works."(6) This is an account of the things formerly created, as also it is a prophecy of what is to come. For the day of the Lord is as a thousand years;(7) and in six days created things were completed: it is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the sixth thousand year. 4. And therefore throughout all time, man, having been moulded at the beginning by the hands of God, that is, of the Son and of the Spirit, is made after the image and likeness of God: the chaff, indeed, which is the apostasy, being cast away; but the wheat, that is, those who bring forth fruit to God in faith, being gathered into the barn. And for this cause tribulation is necessary for those who are saved, that having been after a manner broken up, and rendered fine, and sprinkled over by the patience of the Word of God, and set on fire [for purification], they may be fitted for the royal banquet. As a certain man of ours said, when he was condemned to the wild beasts because of his testimony with respect to God: "I am the wheat of Christ, and am ground by the teeth of the wild beasts, that I may be found the pure bread of God."(8)
CHAP.XXIX.--ALL THINGS HAVE BEEN CREATED FOR THE SERVICE OF MAN. THE DECEITS, WICKEDNESS, AND APOSTATE POWER OF ANTICHRIST. THIS WAS PREFIGURED AT THE DELUGE, AS AFTERWARDS BY THE PERSECUTION OF SHADRACH, MESHACH, AND ABEDNEGO.
1. In the previous books I have set forth the causes for which God permitted these things to be made, and have pointed out that all such have been created for the benefit of that human nature which is saved, ripening for immortality that which is [possessed] of its own free will and its own power, and preparing and rendering it more adapted for eternal subjection to God. And therefore the creation is suited to [the wants of] man; for man was not made for its sake, but creation for the sake of man. Those nations however, who did not of themselves raise up their eyes unto heaven, nor returned thanks to their Maker, nor wished to behold the light of truth, but who were like blind mice concealed in the depths of ignorance, the word justly reckons "as waste water from a sink, and as the turning-weight of a balance--in fact, as nothing;"(1) so far useful and serviceable to the just, as stubble conduces towards the growth of the wheat, and its straw, by means of combustion, serves for working gold. And therefore, when in the end the Church shall be suddenly caught up from this, it is said, "There shall be tribulation such as has not been since the beginning, neither shall be."(2) For this is the last contest of the righteous, in which, when they overcome they are crowned with incorruption. 2. And there is therefore in this beast, when he comes, a recapitulation made of all sorts of iniquity and of every deceit, in order that all apostate power, flowing into and being shut up in him, may be sent into the furnace of fire. Fittingly, therefore, shall his name possess the number six hundred and sixty-six, since he sums up in his own person all the commixture of wickedness which took place previous to the deluge, due to the apostasy of the angels. For Noah was six hundred years old when the deluge came upon the earth, sweeping away the rebellious world, for the sake of that most infamous generation which lived in the times of Noah. And [Antichrist] also sums up every error of devised idols since the flood, together with the slaying of the prophets and the cutting off of the just. For that image which was set up by Nebuchadnezzar had indeed a height of sixty cubits, while the breadth was six cubits; on account of which Ananias, Azarias, and Misael, when they did not worship it, were cast into a furnace of fire, pointing out prophetically, by what happened to them, the wrath against the righteous which shall arise towards the [time of the] end. For that image, taken as a whole, was a prefiguring of this man's coming, decreeing that he should undoubtedly himself alone be worshipped by all men. Thus, then, the six hundred years of Noah, in whose time the deluge occurred because of the apostasy, and the number of the cubits of the image for which these just men were sent into the fiery furnace, do indicate the number of the name of that man in whom is concentrated the whole apostasy of six thousand years, and unrighteousness, and wickedness, and false prophecy, and deception; for which things' sake a cataclysm of fire shall also come [upon the earth].
CHAP. XXX.--ALTHOUGH CERTAIN AS TO THE NUMBER OF THE NAME OF ANTICHRIST, YET WE SHOULD COME TO NO RASH CONCLUSIONS AS TO THE NAME ITSELF, BECAUSE THIS NUMBER IS CAPABLE OF BEING FITTED TO MANY NAMES. REASONS FOR THIS POINT BEING RESERVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. ANTICHRIST'S REIGN AND DEATH.
1. Such, then, being the state of the case, and this number being found in all the most approved and ancient copies(3) [of the Apocalypse], and those men who saw John face to face bearing their testimony [to it]; while reason also leads us to conclude that the number of the name of the beast, [if reckoned] according to the Greek mode of calculation by the [value of] the letters contained in it, will amount to six hundred and sixty and six; that is, the number of tens shall be equal to that of the hundreds, and the number of hundreds equal to that of the units (for that number which [expresses] the digit six being adhered to throughout, indicates the recapitulations of that apostasy, taken in its full extent, which occurred at the beginning, during the intermediate periods, and which shall take place at the end),--I do not know how it is that some have erred following the ordinary mode of speech, and have vitiated the middle number in the name, deducting the amount of fifty from it, so that instead of six decads they will have it that there is but one. [I am inclined to think that this occurred through the fault of the copyists, as is wont to happen, since numbers also are expressed by letters; so that the Greek letter which expresses the number sixty was easily expanded into the letter Iota of the Greeks.](4) Others then received this reading without examination; some in their simplicity, and upon their own responsibility, making use of this number expressing one decad; while some, in their inexperience, have ventured to seek out a name which should contain the erroneous and spurious number. Now, as regards those who have done this in simplicity, and without evil intent, we are at liberty to assume that pardon will be granted them by God. But as for those who, for the sake of vainglory, lay it down for certain that names containing the spurious number are to be accepted, and affirm that this name, hit upon by themselves, is that of him who is to come; such persons shall not come forth without loss, because they have led into error both themselves and those who confided in them. Now, in the first place, it is loss to wander from the truth, and to imagine that as being the case which is not; then again, as there shall be no light punishment [inflicted] upon him who either adds or subtracts anything from the Scripture,(1) under that such a person must necessarily fall. Moreover, another danger, by no means trifling, shall overtake those who falsely presume that they know the name of Antichrist. For if these men assume one [number], when this [Antichrist] shall come having another, they will be easily led away by him, as supposing him not to be the expected one, who must be guarded against. 2. These men, therefore, ought to learn [what really is the state of the case], and go back to the true number of the name, that they be not reckoned among false prophets. But, knowing the sure number declared by Scripture, that is, six hundred sixty and six, let them await, in the first place, the division of the kingdom into ten; then, in the next place, when these kings are reigning, and beginning to set their affairs in order, and advance their kingdom, [let them learn] to acknowledge that he who shall come claiming the kingdom for himself, and shall terrify those men of whom we have been speaking, having a name containing the aforesaid number, is truly the abomination of desolation. This, too, the apostle affirms: "When they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction shall come upon them."(2) And Jeremiah does not merely point out his sudden coming, but he even indicates the tribe from which he shall come, where he says, "We shall hear the voice of his swift horses from Dan; the whole earth shall be moved by the voice of the neighing of his galloping horses: he shall also come and devour the earth, and the fulness thereof, the city also, and they that dwell therein."(3) This, too, is the reason that this tribe is not reckoned in the Apocalypse along with those which are saved.(4) 3. It is therefore more certain, and less hazardous, to await the fulfilment of the prophecy, than to be making surmises, and casting about for any names that may present themselves, inasmuch as many names can be found possessing the number mentioned; and the same question will, after all, remain unsolved. For if there are many names found possessing this number, it will be asked which among them shall the coming man bear. It is not through a want of names containing the number of that name that I say this, but on account of the fear of God, and zeal for the truth: for the name Evanthas (E<greek>U</greek>AN<greek>Q</greek>A<greek>S</greek>) contains the required number, but I make no allegation regarding it. Then also Lateinos (<greek>L</greek>ATEINO<greek>S</greek>) has the number six hundred and sixty-six; and it is a very probable [solution], this being the name of the last kingdom [of the four seen by Daniel]. For the Latins are they who at present bear rule:(5) I will not, however, make any boast over this [coincidence]. Teitan too, (TEITAN, the first syllable being written with the two Greek vowels <greek>e</greek> and <greek>i</greek>), among all the names which are found among us, is rather worthy of credit. For it has in itself the predicted number, and is composed of six letters, each syllable containing three letters; and [the word itself] is ancient, and removed from ordinary use; for among our kings we find none bearing this name Titan, nor have any of the idols which are worshipped in public among the Greeks and barbarians this appellation. Among many persons, too, this name is accounted divine, so that even the sun is termed "Titan" by those who do now possess [the rule]. This word, too, contains a certain outward appearance of vengeance, and of one inflicting merited punishment because he (Antichrist) pretends that he vindicates the oppressed.(6) And besides this, it is an ancient name, one worthy of credit, of royal dignity, and still further, a name belonging to a tyrant. Inasmuch, then, as this name "Titan" has so much to recommend it, there is a strong degree of probability, that from among the many [names suggested], we infer, that perchance he who is to come shall be called "Titan." We will not, however, incur the risk of pronouncing positively as to the name of Antichrist; for if it were necessary that his name should be distinctly revealed in this present time, it would have been announced by him who beheld the apocalyptic vision. For that was seen no very long time since, but almost in our day, towards the end of Domitian's reign. 4. But he indicates the number of the name now, that when this man comes we may avoid him, being aware who he is: the name, however, is suppressed, because it is not worthy of being proclaimed by the Holy Spirit. For if it had been declared by Him, he (Antichrist) might perhaps continue for a long period. But now as "he was, and is not, and shall ascend out of the abyss, and goes into perdition,"(1) as one who has no existence; so neither has his name been declared, for the name of that which does not exist is not proclaimed. But when this Antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will reign for three years and six months, and sit in the temple at Jerusalem; and then the Lord will come from heaven in the clouds, in the glory of the Father, sending this man and those who follow him into the lake of fire; but bringing in for the righteous the times of the kingdom, that is, the rest, the hallowed seventh day; and restoring to Abraham the promised inheritance, in which kingdom the Lord declared, that "many coming from the east and from the west should sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."(2)

The impulse and development of Zionism was almost exclusively the work of Ashkenazim--Jews of European origin; few Sephardim were directly engaged in the movement in its formative years. (In 1900 about 9.5 million of the world's 10.5 million Jews were Ashkenazim, and about 5.2 million of the Ashkenazim lived in the Pale of Settlement.)
The first writings in what later came to be known as Zionism appeared in the mid-1800s. In 1840 the Jews of Eastern Europe and the Balkans had been aroused by rumors that the messianic era was at hand. Various writers, most prominently Rabbi Judah Alkalai and Rabbi Zevi Hirsch Kalisher but including many others, were impressed by the nationalist fervor of Europe that was creating new nation-states and by the resurgence of messianic expectations among Jews. Kalisher wrote that Jewish nationalism was directly akin to other nationalist movements and was the logical continuation of the Jewish enlightenment that had begun in France in 1791 when Jews were granted civil liberties. Alkalai consciously altered his expectations from a miraculous messianic salvation to a redemption by human effort that would pave the way for the arrival of the messiah. Both authors urged the development of Jewish national unity, and Kalisher in particular foresaw the ingathering to Palestine of many of the world's Jews as part of the process of emancipation.
Another important early Zionist was Moses Hess, a German Jew and socialist comrade of Karl Marx. In his book Rome and Jerusalem, published in 1862, Hess called for the establishment of a Jewish socialist commonwealth in Palestine. He was one of the first Jewish thinkers to see that emancipation would ultimately exacerbate anti-Semitism in Europe. He concluded that the only solution to the Jewish problem was the establishment of a national Jewish society managed by a Jewish proletariat. Although his synthesis of socialism and Jewish nationalism would later become an integral part of the Labor Zionist movement, during his lifetime the prosperity of European Jewry lessened the appeal of his work.

Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel (2nd ed.) Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky Pluto Press, Paperback, 2004, 176 pgs.
A brief excerpt from a review: Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel
By Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky.
Reviewed by Allan C. Brownfeld

'What particularly concerns the authors is the total contempt which Jewish fundamentalists show toward non-Jews. Rabbi Kook the Elder, the revered father of the messianic tendency of Jewish fundamentalism, said, The difference between a Jewish soul and souls of non-Jews? all of them in all different levels is greater and deeper than the difference between a human soul and the souls of cattle.
Rabbi Kook?s entire teaching, which is followed devoutly by, among others, those who have led the settler movement on the occupied West Bank, is based upon the Lurianic Cabbala, the school of Jewish mysticism that dominated Judaism from the late16th to the early 19th century. One of the basic tenets of the Lurianic Cabbala, the authors write, is the absolute superiority of the Jewish soul and body over the non-Jewish soul and body. According to the Lurianic Cabbala, the world was created solely for the sake of Jews; the existence of non-Jews was subsidiary. If an influential Christian bishop or Islamic scholar argued that the difference between the superior souls of non-Jews and the inferior souls of Jewswas greater than the difference between the human soul and souls of cattle, he would incur the wrath of all and be viewed as an anti-Semite by most Jewish scholars regardless of whatever less meaningful, positive statements he included.'

Masonic Globalization and the New World Order? Age of Antichrist

Masonic Globalization and the New World Order
"It has been an established fact for years that the political Zionists plan to make Jerusalem the administrative capital of a One World Government. This lofty (but purely carnal) ambition was laid out in unmistakable terms by David Ben Gurion, Israel's Prime Minister, in a piece written for Look Magazine in 1962, predicted what would happen on the world scene over the next quarter of a century. His words are reproduced in their entirety from the original:
"The image of the world in 1987 as traced in my imagination: The Cold War will be a thing of the past. Internal pressure of the constantly growing intelligentsia in Russia for more freedom and the pressure ofthe masses for raising their living standards may lead to a gradual democratization of the Soviet Union. On the other hand, the increasing influence of the workers and farmers, and the rising political importance of men of science, may transform the United States into a welfare state with a planned economy. Western and Eastern Europe will become a federation of autonomous states having a Socialist and democratic regime. With the exception of the USSR as a federated Eurasian state, all other continents will become united in world alliance, at whose disposal will be an international police force. All armies will be abolished, and there will be no more wars. In Jerusalem, the United Nations (a truly United Nations) will build a Shrine of the Prophets to serve the federated union of all continents; this will be the seat of the Supreme Court of Mankind, to settle all controversies among the federated continents, as prophesied by Isaiah. Higher education will be the right of every person in the world. A pill to prevent pregnancy will slow down the explosive natural increase in China and India. And by 1987, the average life-span of man will reach 100 years" (Look Magazine, January 16, 1962, p. 20). Age of Antichrist
Neither Truth nor Papal 'infallibility' can hinder Rome's grand design to rule the world from a reconstructed temple at Jerusalem in non-Semitic, anti-Semitic, Zionist Israel.
"Such a secular, earthbound state [Israel] could easily become the political and military power base for the Antichrist when he comes. For the Antichrist will be in perfect accord with the ideals of such a Zionist state. Moreover, the State of Israel has demonstrated that it has the will and ability to go to war and win the secular goals to which its heart is attached. Thus when the Antichrist comes to power as head of such an efficient, superbly equipped, scientific State, founded on nationalism, race and blood, he will be able to conquer the rest of the world. He will be the first, the only Jew to reign with political, economic, military power over the whole world from his capital city, Jerusalem, the city in which Our Lord was crucified" (Fr. Vincent Miceli, S.J., The Antichrist, p. 152).

Evolution is not true. (The cabala is actually the source of all evolutionary theory in the last five-hundred years and even in the ancient world in the cabbala's original babylonian version the source of all evolutionary theory.) To declare that evolution is true is to say that God is false. All of the Church Fathers knew that and all of them taught literal creation as revealed by God with nothing added or subtracted.

All Men Are Created In the Image And Likeness Of God.
Gn:1:26: 26 ¶ And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth. (DRV)
This is a core Catholic belief. It is self evident to all people with a conscience. It also explains something quite opposite to it.
When Adam sinned it took place because of the envy of the devil.
Rom:5:12: 12 Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this world and by sin death: and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned. (DRV)
Wisdom 2: 23 For God created man incorruptible, and to the image of his own likeness he made him. 24 But by the envy of the devil, death came into the world: 25 And they follow him that are of his side. (DRV)
What was the devil's temptation? It was this:
Gn:3: 1 ¶ Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise? 2 And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die. 4 And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. 5 For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil. 6 ¶ And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold: and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband, who did eat. (DRV)
and you shall be as Gods
They chose to be their own gods. This is the base of racism. For if one were one's own god in one's own image and likeness, then one would be the founder of a race of gods who would look the same as oneself and be connected by bloodline, and one would consider oneself better than others.
But the Apostles, basing themselves on the teaching of Jesus Christ, taught that all men are equal in their creation by and in the sight of God.
Acts:17:26, 27: 26 And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times and the limits of their habitation. 27 That they should seek God, if haply they may feel after him or find him, although he be not far from every one of us. (DRV)
Therefore racism is of the devil and to be absolutely condemned.
The Catholic Faith calls all men to come to salvation in Jesus Christ. The Catholic Faith also calls in the Name of Christ the King of all Nations for equal justice here on earth for all men.
THE genealogical ASPECT OF ZIONIST "RELIGION" Jerusalem Post ^ | Oct. 3, 2006 | Adina Greene
They are coming from all over the world to claim their royal heritage.
First, on October 19, they will meet in New York City at the inaugural dinner of the Davidic Dynasty organization. Then, in May, a mass reunion is planned for Jerusalem.
They say they are descendants of King David. They have the oral family traditions, rabbinic texts and historical research to back up their claims. And the way Jewish genealogy is thriving, their ranks may swell in the coming years.
Davidic Dynasty, a project of the Eshet Chayil Foundation, has compiled a partial list of David's purported descendants. Their get-together, to be held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, will honor Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau and Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis - both of whom are believed to be descended from David.
Other illustrious Jewish figures down the centuries who traced their ancestry back to David includeHillel, Rabban Gameliel, Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi, Yochanan Hasandler and Yosef Karo. More contemporary leaders include the Baal Shem Tov, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, the Lubavitcher Rebbe and former president Chaim Herzog.
And nowadays, it's easier than ever to comb back through Jewish family roots and, who knows, maybe identify your own eminent ancestor.
A generation ago, most people relied on their oldest living relatives to learn about their family's history. The revolution was fuelled by the fall of Communism, and the new records that became available, allied to the proliferation of home computers.
In January, the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy opened at the Jewish National and University Library at the Hebrew University's Givat Ram campus. The institute's director, Dr. Neville Y. Lamdan, and several colleagues had wanted to open such an institute for years, but it had to wait until he stepped down as ambassador to the Vatican. "We came back to the idea with a great deal of energy and with a lot of intensive work," Lamdan said. "The group nominated me to be the director and that's how I find myself involved and over my head."
Now Lamdan plans to advance Jewish genealogy so it can be taught at the university level.
"People were groping around feeling that somehow [Jewish genealogy] should be institutionalized. But what sort of institution? What would it do? The answer: engage in research and, if possible, teaching at a university level," Lamdan said.
The institute has three research projects under way, including two in conjunction with foreign universities.
The Sephardic DNA and Migration project, which the institute is performing in cooperation with the Universities of Haifa, Arizona and New York, uses DNA to tracks the male members of a family back to pre-expulsion Spain.
The institute's second project is called Rebuilding Destroyed Communities. Researchers are trying to reconstruct what community life was like in three towns in Poland and Lithuania before the Holocaust.
The Jacobi Indexing project, finally, is being carried out by Dr. Chanan Rapapport. Paul Jacobi, an eminent genealogist, left the National and University Library some 400 genealogical studies which he had done, mainly on rabbinical lineages in Germany. Most of the studies require additional research.
Rapapport shares Lamdan's desire to raise genealogy to an academic level. "It's a combination between... developing curricula and teaching aids for university level and doing research which is beyond the horizon of the individual hobbyists," Rapapport said in a phone interview. "Research that interests many, many families, not just one family."
Lamdan said he was looking ahead to new challenges.
"More and more source material which contains sources for Jewish genealogy is being uncovered," hesaid, and can be filmed and reproduced digitally.
"There are also other archives in certain countries, including in the Muslim world, where we know there is material. Hopefully we can negotiate access." ________________________________________________________________________

These false prophets say:
"What is the true key to salvation? Those who return to the Law (the Seven Commandments for the Children of Noah, according to the eternal covenant made with Noah in Genesis 9) and who assist the Jewish people (Isaiah 60, 61, 66) will be saved and will participate in the miracles and revelations, including worshipping in the Third Temple, under the kingship of the Messiah. As described in many places, including Jeremiah 16:19-21 and Zechariah 8:20-23, all the old gentile religions of the world will disappear, and their followers will turn to the Jews for spiritual leadership. Until then, Christians are spiritually blinded, and cannot yet understand G-d's wisdom in the Bible."
What does God say:
[Note: the temple was burnt in 70 A.D. by God?s rod of vengeance – the Roman general Titus. Again, when the Jews tried to rebuild the temple under the Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate in the 4th century A.D. God burnt it down repeatedly to show He meant what He said.]
Heb:6: 1 ¶ Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us go on to things more perfect: not laying again the foundation of penance from dead works and of faith towards God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 Have moreover tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, 6 And are fallen away: to be renewed again to repentance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God and making him a mockery. 7 For the earth, that drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God. 8 But that which bringeth forth thorns and briers is reprobate and very near unto a curse: whose end is to be burnt.
…
13 For God making promises to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom he might swear, swore by himself, 14 Saying: Unless blessing I shall bless thee and multiplying I shall multiply thee. 15 And so patiently enduring he obtained the promise. 16 For men swear by one greater than themselves: and an oath for confirmation is the end of all their controversy. 17 Wherein God, meaning more abundantly to shew to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed an oath: 18 That by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have the strongest comfort, we who have fled for refuge to hold fast the hope set before us. 19 Which we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and firm, and which entereth in even within the veil: 20 Where the forerunner Jesus is entered for us, made a high priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.
The synagogue of Satan will fail.
Rv:3:9: 9 Behold, I will bring of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie. Behold, I will make them to come and adore before thy feet. And they shall know that I have loved thee. (DRV)

The Dragon is the devil and is the fallen power behind the First Beast which is the Antichrist and the second beast which is the false prophet who is, as St. Irenaeus says, the armour bearer of the Antichrist. In other words he goes before the Antichrist announcing his coming. This is the devil’s imitation of St. John the Baptist who went before and announced the coming of Him who is the True Messiah, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Talmudic Judaism is where the Antichrist will come from and Freemasonry and Ecumenism is where the False Prophet will come from. Typologically, if we don’t restrict ourselves to saying that this is the only interpretation of the two horns of the False Prophet, we may say they represent Freemasonry and Ecumenism. This is particularly interesting as Freemasonry is basically a pseudo-religious movement that is embodied in Political and Economic institutions of State and Ecumenism is the welding of all false religions and apostate Christianity into the religion of the Antichrist. Traditionally, in Christian Europe the Christian Bishop spoke of the Gospel and as to the duties of the King in terms of State. Both of these institutions were founded on the Christian Gospel. In the <strong>Simia Christi</strong> (the second meaning of Antichrist as the “ape of Christ” or false imitator of Christ) sense then, it is that the False Prophet will seek to impress the antigospel through the false peace of secular State (secular = Atheist, not of God) and false religion of Ecumenism linked together. It is very telling that the final false prophet’s precursor, Antipope John Paul II, founded his whole Assisi movement of false religions together (Ecumenism), on the United Nations’ secular peace initiatives (huge undercurrent of Freemasonry).
In verse 10 below there is the most extreme warning that if we give ourselves to Ecumenism or servile obedience to the State, we will be taken captive by the Antichrist and his forces and be d**ned with him forever.
Rv:13: 1 ¶ (12-18) And he stood upon the sand of the sea. (13-1) And I saw a beast coming up out the sea, having seven heads and ten horns: and upon his horns, ten diadems: and upon his heads, names of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like to a leopard: and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his own strength and great power. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were slain to death: and his death's wound was healed. And all the earth was in admiration after the beast. 4 And they adored the dragon which gave power to the beast. And they adored the beast, saying: Who is like to the beast? And who shall be able to fight with him? 5 And there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies: and power was given to him to do, two and forty months. 6 And he opened his mouth unto blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name and his tabernacle and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And power was given him over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth adored him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb which was slain from the beginning of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that shall lead into captivity shall go into captivity: he that shall kill by the sword must be killed by the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 ¶ And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth: and he had two horns, like a lamb: and he spoke as a <strong>dragon</strong>. 12 And he executed all the power of the former beast in his sight. And he caused the earth and them that dwell therein to adore the first beast, whose wound to death was healed. 13 And he did great signs, so that he made also fire to come down from heaven unto the earth, in the sight of men. 14 And he seduced them that dwell on the earth, for the signs which were given him to do in the sight of the beast: saying to them that dwell on the earth that they should make the image of the beast which had the wound by the sword and lived. 15 And it was given him to give life to the image of the beast: and that the image of the beast should speak: and should cause that whosoever will not adore the image of the beast should be slain. 16 And he shall make all, both little and great, rich and poor, freemen and bondmen, to have a character in their right hand or on their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, but he that hath the character, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. He that hath understanding, let him count the number of the beast. For it is the number of a man: and the number of him is six hundred sixty-six. (DRV)

St. Athanasius of Alexendria is honored with his feast day in the traditional Roman Calendar as Bishop, Confessor and Doctor (Father) of the Church on May 2. His prayer from his feast day: Prayer Graciously listen, we beseech thee, O Lord, to the prayers we offer up on this the festival-day of blessed Athanasius, thy Confessor and Bishop: him thou didst find worthy to render acceptable service to thee: appealed to by his merits, do thou free us from all sin. Through our Lord Jesus Christ in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prior to Nicaea I, there were apostolic successions of Bishops, but nothing anywhere in the Church that was like the modern definition of Pope or Patriarch. That occurred at the first Council of Nicaea. It is true that in St. Irenaeus of Lyons (180 A.D.) we find that some sees of Bishops were considered to have greater need for support and a more central place of teaching. Jerusalem was first and foremost. Rome was at that time a place of heresy to be converted. But Rome still had an Apostolic succession, as St. Irenaeus tells us. The original Patriarchates were four – Alexandria, Rome, Antioch and Ephesus. This does not include the centers of the Oriental Churches which were certainly centers of the True Church but separated from the West by physical distance and frontiers of Empires that were at war with one another. Then at Chalcedon, Constantinople was added. As late as Pope St. Gregory the Great of Rome (died 604 A.D.) Pope St. Gregory said that any Bishop (yes, even Popes and Patriarchs were then still referred to as Bishops) who considered himself above all other Bishops as the head over the Universal Church was a precursor of the Antichrist. During the early centuries prior to Chalcedon the Church was truly one. The Church is still one. Let me borrow from the Orthodox (I am traditional Catholic) a phrase that cuts across boundary lines. It is the “economia of salvation”. Economia is economy in English. The meaning of the phrase includes that while in any given question of doctrine there must be one answer that should be discerned by men as correct, that in terms of the salvation of an individual Christian, that individual’s comprehension of the impulse of God given grace is a determining factor in whether or not the person is responding in a way to God that is acceptable to God and therefore the action of God’s grace towards that person is salvific. When I grew up, we who were Catholic and our Orthodox Neighbors knew we worshipped the same God. This does not mean to embrace heresy or blasphemy; unrepented, that will be rewarded with d**nation.
Athanasius, The Thirteenth among the Holy Apostles From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coptic_Pope [excerpt] • The Ecumenical Judge of the Holy Apostolic and Orthodox Church of God: This was a title given to St. Alexander I (the 19th Archbishop of Alexandria), in honor of the canonical responsibilities bestowed upon the Primates of Alexandria thereafter, to determine the date of the Pascha, and to convey ecclesiastical letters of notification to all Hierarchies of the Universal Church, along with the Paschal encyclical. This was officially agreed upon and ratified at the Ecumenical First Council of Nicaea (325 AD). • The Thirteenth among the Holy Apostles: This title was given to St. Athanasius I (the 20th Archbishop of Alexandria), in honor of his apostolic defiance against heresies, especially the Arian heresy. He endured 5 exiles before his final victory over them, which eventually safeguarded the Orthodoxy of the Universal Church. This is why he is entitled as the "The Apostolic," meaning that he reached the level of the Holy Apostles, in his struggle to preserve and to safeguard the true Christian Orthodox Faith. He is also known as equal to the Apostles.
[end of excerpt from Wikipedia] At the First Council of Nicaea in which St. Athanasius, as only a deacon, was very important in his defense of the Holy Catholic Apostolic Faith, the beginning of canonical divisions of ecclesiastical authority began.
Notice in the below that initially Alexandria is mentioned first. The Copts still consider the Pope of Alexandria the first Pope in History. But all agree that Apostolic succession goes back to the Apostles. However in the first 100 years of the Church you will not find any Church considered lawful to usurp the rights of another. St. Clement of Rome, for instance, during this time, wrote to the Church at Corinth to tell them that the Bishop that their own congregation at Corinth had elected could not be removed by anyone. A small group at Corinth had tried to have the Bishop deposed. St. Clement totally backed up the complete autonomy of the Church at Corinth to elect their own Bishop – for life. See below at the end for the actual beginning form of the Churches.
See the two Nicene canons below for the real beginning of Roman See Primacy. Canon VI is absolutely a canon of the first Council of Nicaea. Even if we assume that Canon XXXIX was as early as the first Nicene council in 325 A.D. it still is a decision of men and is therefore secondary to whatever God says through Jesus Christ. Even assuming that Canon XXXIX is as late an addition as would be at Chalcedon in 451 A.D. and was part of what alienated the Oriental Churches, it still governed a great deal of the Church for a very long time – centuries, and is therefore not to be taken lightly. Jesus Christ Himself instituted Church law in St. Matthew’s Gospel, Chapter 16 and Chapter 18. The prime example of how that governed of course is in the Acts. See Acts Chapter 15 verses 28, 29 28 For it hath seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us to lay no further burden upon you than these necessary things: 29 That you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication: from which things keeping yourselves, you shall do well. Fare ye well.
Nicene Canons
CANON VI.
LET the ancient customs in Egypt, Libya and Pentapolis prevail, that the Bishop of Alexandria have jurisdiction in all these, since the like is customary for the Bishop of Rome also. Likewise in Antioch and the other provinces, let the Churches retain their privileges. And this is to be universally understood, that if any one be made bishop without the consent of the Metropolitan, the great Synod has declared that such a man ought not to be a bishop. If, however, two or three bishops shall from natural love of contradiction, oppose the common suffrage of the rest, it being reasonable and in accordance with the ecclesiastical law, then let the choice of the majority prevail.
CANON XXXIX.
Of the care and power which a Patriarch has over the bishops and archbishops of his patriarchate; and of the primacy of the Bishop of Rome over all. Let the patriarch consider what things are done by the archbishops and bishops in their provinces; and if he shall find anything done by them otherwise than it should be, let him change it, and order it, as seemeth him fit: for he is the father of all, and they are his sons. And although the archbishop be among the bishops as an elder brother, who hath the care of his brethren, and to whom they owe obedience because he is over them; yet the patriarch is to all those who are under his power, just as he who holds the seat of Rome, is the head and prince of all patriarchs; in-asmuch as he is first, as was Peter, to whom power is given over all Christian princes, and over all their peoples, as he who is the Vicar of Christ our Lord over all peoples and over the whole Christian Church, and whoever shall contradict this, is excommunicated by the Synod.(1) [I add Canon XXXVII. of Echellensis's Nova Versio LXXXIV. Arabic. Canonum Conc. Nicoeni, that the reader may compare it with the foregoing.] Let there be only four patriarchs in the whole world as there are four writers of the Gospel, and four rivers, etc. And let there be a prince and chief over them, the lord of the see of the Divine Peter at Rome, according as the Apostles commanded. And after him the lord of the great Alexandria, which is the see of Mark. And the third is the lord of Ephesus, which is the see of John the Divine who speaks divine things. And the fourth and last is my lord of Antioch, which is another see of Peter. And let all the bishops be divided under the hands of these four patriarchs; and the bishops of the little towns which are under the dominion of the great cities let them be under the authority of these metropolitans. But let every metropolitan of these great cities appoint the bishops of his province, but let none of the bishops appoint him, for he is greater than they. Therefore let every man know his own rank, and let him not usurp the rank of another. And whosoever shall contradict this law which we have established the Fathers of the Synod subject him to anathema.(2)

"Dura-Europos" Dura europos is simply the house churches that the early Church met in. In each of these as the Didache (written 49 A.D. at the Council of Jerusalem by the Apostles and a book of the New Testament and listed canonically as such until the fourth century A.D. and still in a few Churches down until the present) tells us, people selected their own bishops. St. Clement of Rome (Bishop of Rome and Apostolic Father) at the end of the first century A.D., in his epistle, tells us the same -- he rebuked a small group in Corinth for not honoring the bishop that the whole local congregation had selected. The Church began in small house churches and she will great her Lord when He returns from the same with all the faithful in all the faithful churches of every size.

5 For her sins have reached unto heaven: and the Lord hath remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her as she also hath rendered to you: and double unto her double, according to her works. In the cup wherein she hath mingled, mingle ye double unto her. 7 As much as she hath glorified herself and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give ye to her. Because she saith in her heart: I sit a queen and am no widow: and sorrow I shall not see. 8 Therefore, shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burnt with the fire: because God is strong, who shall judge her. 9 ¶ And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived in delicacies with her, shall weep and bewail themselves over her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning: 10 Standing afar off for fear of her torments, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, Babylon, that mighty city: for in one hour is thy judgment come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her: for no man shall buy their merchandise any more. 12 Merchandise of gold and silver and precious stones: and of pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet: and all thyine wood: and all manner of vessels of ivory: and all manner of vessels of precious stone and of brass and of iron and of marble: 13 And cinnamon and odours and ointment and frankincense and wine and oil and fine flour and wheat and beasts and sheep and horses and chariots: and slaves and souls of men. 14 And the fruits of the desire of thy soul are departed from thee: and all fat and goodly things are perished from thee. And they shall find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, who were made rich, shall stand afar off from her, for fear of her torments, weeping and mourning, 16 And saying: Alas! alas! that great city, which was clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet and was gilt with gold and precious stones and pearls. 17 For in one hour are so great riches come to nought. And every shipmaster and all that sail into the lake, and mariners, and as many as work in the sea, stood afar off, 18 And cried, seeing the place of her burning, saying: What city is like to this great city? 19 And they cast dust upon their heads and cried, weeping and mourning, saying: Alas! alas! that great city, wherein all were made rich, that had ships at sea, by reason of her prices. For, in one hour she is made desolate. 20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven and ye holy apostles and prophets. For God hath judged your judgment on her. 21 And a mighty angel took up a stone, as it were a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying: With such violence as this, shall Babylon, that great city, be thrown down and shall be found no more at all. 22 And the voice of harpers and of musicians and of them that play on the pipe and on the trumpet shall no more be heard at all in thee: and no craftsman of any art whatsoever shall be found any more at all in thee: and the sound of the mill shall be heard no more at all in thee: 23 And the light of the lamp shall shine no more at all in thee: and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee. For thy merchants were the great men of the earth: for all nations have been deceived by thy enchantments. 24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all that were slain upon the earth. (DRV) "The angel speaks of the fall of Rome as something already accomplished to show that it must surely come to pass. It shall be left so desolate that wild beasts will find it a fitting abode and unclean birds will hover about its ruins. Thus also did Isaias prophecy concerning ancient Babylon: 'Wild beasts shall rest there and their houses shall be filled with serpents. . . and owls shall answer one another there, in the house thereof, and sirens in the temples of pleasure. "Some interpreters take the words of the angel to mean that the ruins of Rome shall become the lurking place of evil spirits according to the words of Christ: 'When an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest.' "The terrible destruction and desolation of Rome is a punishment for her many sins and for the sins into which she has led other nations. The kings and merchants of the earth have been led into the sins and vices of Rome, and with her they have upheld Antichrist in his efforts against the Church. "Another voice from heaven - a voice of mercy - warns the faithful of the impending ruin and exhorts them to seek safety in flight. In like manner did our Lord warn His disciples to flee from Jerusalem upon the approach of the Roman army. Heeding these words of warning the faithful fled to Pella in Peraea and thus escaped the terrible sufferings of the siege. "These verses are an apostrophe to the ministers of God's judgments, apparently the ten kings of the preceding chapter. They are to punish the wicked and unfaithful city for all the evils she has heaped upon them, presumably the evils resulting from apostacy and adherence to Antichrist. They shall punish her also for her own apostacy and worship of Antichrist: 'Double unto her double according to her works: in the cup wherein she hath mingled mingle ye double unto her.’ "The ruin and desolation of Rome shall be commensurate with her former glory, riches and power. The proud city that 'sits a queen' with neither fear nor anxiety, shall be humbled in the dust. "The kings of earth who have shared her guilt shall lament the fate of the city, but they stand afar off fearing to come to her assistance. Such is usually the friendship between nations!"

Perfidy Here is the warning: if you defend the Jews who oppose and attack and blaspheme God and His Christ and Christ’s Church, then at the return of Our Lord Jesus Christ with His angels you will go into the lake of fire with the enemies of God and His Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ while on earth and from heaven, warned of the perfidy of the Jews. St. Paul foretold what their judgment would be. Mt:23:34: 34 ¶ Therefore behold I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify: and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city. (DRV) Mk:13:9: 9 But look to yourselves. For they shall deliver you up to councils: and in the synagogues you shall be beaten: and you shall stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony unto them. (DRV) Rv:2:9: 9 I know thy tribulation and thy poverty: but thou art rich. And thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. (DRV) Rv:3:9: 9 Behold, I will bring of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie. Behold, I will make them to come and adore before thy feet. And they shall know that I have loved thee. (DRV) 2Thes:1 8 In a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his power: (DRV) Throughout the entire history of the Church, since the Jews opposed Christ at His coming and continue to do so, they have remained His enemies and enemies of His Church. It was the Jews who screamed for the crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ and who provoked the martyrdom of St. Polycarp and many other of the early Christian martyrs. It was the Rabbis who composed the Talmud which is the most blasphemous Anti-God and Anti-Christ collection of blasphemies ever written. In the below letter from CCEL library St. Ambrose exhorts the Christian emperor Theodosius to not let the Jews who have burnt numerous church buildings be paid from the treasury of the Empire for their synagogues which are dens of blasphemy against God and His Christ. The history of Mishnaic – Masoretic – Talmudic – Kabalistic – Lurianic – Zionist Judaism is one long history of opposition to God and His Christ. It is a religion of racism towards all non-Jews and nationalism and hatred of God and His Christ. It is dedicated to everything the prophets in the Old Testament condemned and which St. John the Baptist and Our Lord Jesus Christ condemned as totally d**nable. Today they threaten not just Church property but the very faith of the Church and her exposition of that faith to the world which she was commissioned to do by Our Lord Jesus Christ. To the Jew he is a race different from and superior to everyone else more than the difference between a man and a cow. His religion repudiates ON PURPOSE everything that Moses and Jesus Christ ever taught men to do. Father Leonard Feeney (who was NOT an anti-semite and who was certainly totally against the Nazis, but has been smeared with that label even by hackers on the website dedicated to his own writings) warned in his journal – Point Magazine (1952-1959) “Essential to the understanding of our chaotic times is the knowledge that the Jewish race constitutes a united anti-Christian bloc within Christian society, and is working for the overthrow of that society by every means at its disposal.” In the Apostles and Evangelists and Gospels and Epistles of the New Testament and in the whole body of writings of the ecclesiastical writers from the Church Fathers to the present, there runs throughout the warning that the Jews who have REJECTED and still REJECT Christ are the one group from whom the Antichrist will arise to persecute the Church in the final and most horrendous persecution imaginable. Don’t even think to say that they embrace the same faith as Christians. To see how accurate Father Leonard Feeney is, see his writings, with introductory comments based on a patristic witness: The Truth from a priest from his own writings http://journals.aol.com/langosh5/TheTruthfromapriestfromhi/
Excerpts from the letter of St. Ambrose to the Emperor Theodosius concerning the Jews who have opposed God and His Christ and burnt Church buildings and now wish to rob the treasury of the Emperor for their perfidious synagogues. Comparison is also made to the Valentinian Gnostics and Julian the Apostate, equally with the Jews, enemies of God and His Christ. From: CCEL Volume XXXIII (Post-Nicene Ser II. Vol. X) – St. Ambrose: Principal Works, Dogmatic Treatises , Ethical Works, etc. LETTER XL. LETTER XL. Summary St. Ambrose begs Theodosius to listen to him, as he cannot be silent without great risk to both. He points out that Theodosius though God-fearing may be led astray, and points out that his decision respecting the restoration of the Jewish synagogue is full of peril, exposing the bishop to the danger of either acting against the truth or of death. The case of Julian is referred to, and the reasons given for the imperial rescript are met, especially by the plea that the Jews had burnt many churches. St. Ambrose touches on the temple of the Valentinians, whom he declares to be worse than heathen, and points out what a door would be opened to the calumnies of the Jews and a triumph over Christ Himself. The Emperor is lastly warned by the example of Maximus not to take the part of Jews or heretics, and is urged to clemency. ________________________________________________________________________ 10. Shall, then, a place be made for the unbelief of the Jews out of the spoils of the Church, and shall the patrimony, which by the favour of Christ has been gained for Christians, be transferred to the treasuries of unbelievers? We read that Of old temples were built for idols of the plunder taken from Cimbri, and the spoils of other enemies. Shall the Jews write this inscription on the front of their synagogue: "The temple of impiety, erected from the plunder of Christians"? 12. Have you not heard, O Emperor, how, when Julian had commanded that the temple of Jerusalem should be restored, those who were clearing the rubbish were consumed by fire?(1) Will you not beware lest this happen now again? For you ought not to have commanded what Julian commanded. 13. But what is your motive? Is it because a public building of whatever kind has been burnt, or because it was a synagogue? If you are moved by the burning of a building of no importance (for what could there be in so mean a town?), do you not remember, O Emperor, how many prefects' houses have been burnt at Rome, and no one inflicted punishment for it? And, in truth, if any emperor had desired to punish the deed sharply, he would have injured the cause of him who had suffered so great a loss. Which, then, is more fitting, that a fire in some part of the buildings of Callinicum, or of the city of Rome, should be punished, if indeed it were right at all? At Constantinople lately, the house of the bishop was burnt and your Clemency's son interceded with his father, praying that you would not avenge the insult offered to him, that is, to the son of the emperor, and the burning of the episcopal house. Do you not consider, O Emperor, that if you were to order this deed to be punished, he would again intervene against the punishment? That favour was, however, fittingly obtained by the son from the father, for it was worthy of him first to forgive the injury done to himself. That was a good division in the distribution of favour, that the son should be entreated for his own loss, the father for that of the son. Here there is nothing for you to keep back for your son. Take heed, then, lest you derogate aught from God. 14. There is, then, no adequate cause for such a commotion, that the people should be so severely punished for the burning of a building, and much less since it is the burning of a synagogue, a home of unbelief, a house of impiety, a receptacle of folly, which God Himself has condemned. For thus we read, where the Lord our God speaks by the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah: "And I will do to this house, which is called by My Name, wherein ye trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh, and I will cast you forth from My sight, as I cast forth your brethren, the whole seed of Ephraim. And do not thou pray for that people, and do not thou ask mercy for them, and do not come near Me on their behalf, for I will not hear thee. Or seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah?"(1) God forbids intercession to be made for those. 15. And certainly, if I were pleading according to the law of nations, I could tell how many of the Church's basilicas the Jews burnt in the time of the Emperor Julian: two at Damascus, one of which is scarcely now repaired, and this at the cost of the Church, not of the Synagogue; the other basilica still is a rough mass of shapeless ruins. Basilicas were burnt at Gaza, Ascalon, Berytus, and in almost every place in those parts, and no one demanded punishment. And at Alexandria a basilica was burnt by heathen and Jews, which surpassed all the rest. The Church was not avenged, shall the Synagogue be so? 16. Shall, then, the burning of the temple of the Valentinians be also avenged? But what is but a temple in which is a gathering of heathen? Although the heathen invoke twelve gods, the Valentinians worship thirty-two AEons whom they call gods. And I have found out concerning these also that it is reported and ordered that some monks should be punished, who, when the Valentinians were stopping the road on which, according to custom and ancient use, they were singing psalms as they went to celebrate the festival of the Maccabees, enraged by their insolence, burnt their hurriedly-built temple in some country village. 17. How many have to offer themselves to such a choice, when they remember that in the time of Julian, he who threw down an altar, and disturbed a sacrifice, was condemned by the judge and suffered martyrdom? And so the judge who heard him was never esteemed other than a prosecutor, for no one thought him worthy of being associated with, or of a kiss. And if he were not now dead, I should fear, O Emperor, that you would take vengeance on him, although he escaped not the vengeance of heaven, outliving his own heir. 18. But it is related that the judge was ordered to take cognizance of the matter, and that it was written that he ought not to have reported the deed, but to have punished it, and that the money chests which had been taken away should be demanded. I will omit other matters. The buildings of our churches were burnt by the Jews, and nothing was restored, nothing was asked back, nothing demanded. But what could the Synagogue have possessed in a far distant town, when the whole of what there is there is not much; there is nothing of value, and no abundance? And what then could the scheming Jews lose by the fire? These are artifices of the Jews who wish to calumniate us, that because of their complaints, an extraordinary military inquiry may be ordered, and a soldier sent, who will, perhaps, say what one said once here, O Emperor, before your accession: "How will Christ be able to help us who fight for the Jews against Christ, who are sent to avenge the Jews? They have destroyed their own armies, and wish to destroy ours." 20. Will you give this triumph over the Church of God to the Jews? this trophy over Christ's people, this exultation, O Emperor, to the unbelievers? this rejoicing to the Synagogue, this sorrow to the Church? The people of the Jews will set this solemnity amongst their feast-days, and will doubtless number it amongst those on which they triumphed either over the Amorites, or the Canaanites, or were delivered from the hand of Pharaoh, King of Egypt, or of Nebuchodonosor, King of Babylon. They will add this solemnity, in memory of their having triumphed over the people of Christ. 21. And whereas they deny that they themselves are bound by the Roman laws, and repute those laws as criminal, yet now they think that they ought to be avenged, as it were, by the Roman laws. Where were those laws when they themselves set fire to the roofs of the sacred basilicas? If Julian did not avenge the Church because he was an apostate, will you, O Emperor, avenge the injury done to the Synagogue, because you are a Christian? 23. Is it not on this account that Maximus was forsaken, who, before the days of the expedition, hearing that a synagogue had been burnt in Rome, had sent an edict to Rome, as if he were the upholder of public order? Wherefore the Christian people said, No good is in store for him. That king has become a Jew, we have heard of him as a defender of order, and Christ, Who died for sinners, soon tested him. If this was said of words, what will be said of punishment? And then at once he was overcome by the Franks and the Saxons, in Sicily, at Siscia, at Petavio, in a word everywhere. What has the believer in common with the unbeliever? The instances of his unbelief ought to be done away with together with the unbeliever himself. That which injured him, that wherein he who was conquered offended, the conqueror ought not to follow but to condemn. 24. I have, then, recounted these things not as to one who is ungrateful, but have enumerated them as rightly bestowed, in order that, warned by them, you, to whom more has been given, may love more. When Simon answered in these words the Lord Jesus said: "Thou hast judged rightly."(2) And straightway turning to the woman who anointed His feet with ointment, setting forth a type of the Church, He said to Simon: "Wherefore I say unto thee, her sins which are many are forgiven, since she loved much. But he to whom less is forgiven loveth less."(3) This is the woman who entered into the house of the Pharisee, and cast off the Jew, but gained Christ. For the Church shut out the Synagogue, why is it now again attempted that in the servant of Christ the Synagogue should exclude the Church from the bosom of faith, from the house of Christ? 26. And yet how great a thing it is, O Emperor, that you should not think it necessary to enquire or to punish in regard to a matter as to which up to this day no one has enquired, no one has ever inflicted punishment. It is a serious matter to endanger your salvation for the Jews. When Gideon(1) had slain the sacred calf, the heathen said, The gods will themselves avenge the injury done to them. Who is to avenge the Synagogue? Christ, Whom they slew, Whom they denied? Will God the Father avenge those who do not receive the Father, since they have not received the Son? Who is to avenge the heresy of the Valentinians? How can your piety avenge them, seeing it has commanded them to be excluded, and denied them permission to meet together? If I set before you Josiah as a king approved of God, will you condemn that in them which was approved in him?(2) Ps:1:1: 1 ¶ Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence: (DRV) »

The Antichrist and the False Prophet
The two beasts
Traditionally, in Christian Europe the Christian Bishop spoke of the Church and as to the duties of the King in terms of State. Both of these institutions were founded on the Christian Gospel. In the Simia Christi (the second meaning of Antichrist as the “ape of Christ” or false imitator of Christ) sense then, it is that the False Prophet will seek to impress the antigospel through the false peace of secular State (secular = Atheist, not of God) and false religion of Ecumenism linked together.
11 ¶ And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth: and he had two horns, like a lamb: and he spoke as a dragon. (DRV)

Lk:14: 25 ¶ And there went great multitudes with him. And turning, he said to them: 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, having a mind to build a tower, doth not first sit down and reckon the charges that are necessary, whether he have wherewithal to finish it: 29 Lest, after he hath laid the foundation and is not able to finish it, all that see it begin to mock him, 30 Saying: This man began to build and was not able to finish. 31 Or, what king, about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down and think whether he be able, with ten thousand, to meet him that, with twenty thousand, cometh against him? 32 Or else, while the other is yet afar off, sending an embassy, he desireth conditions of peace. 33 So likewise every one of you that doth not renounce all that he possesseth cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt is good. But if the salt shall lose its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither profitable for the land nor for the dunghill: but shall be cast out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Elsewhere, it is true that Our Lord speaks of 100 or 60 or 30 fold, but those who would lead need to follow what Our Lord said above and the examples of the early Church below. Let us notice that doctrine was of extreme importance to the early saints. There was no replacement for correct belief.
